Started Working with Yahoo Store
Picked up my first Yahoo Store project and quickly realised this platform had enormous potential - but also real limitations. Within six months I had a thorough understanding of how the system worked at a deep level.
First Custom Features Using JavaScript & PHP
Yahoo Store's built-in options weren't enough for what clients needed. I started combining my JavaScript and PHP knowledge with the platform's RTML system to create features the store editor simply couldn't produce - shipping date estimators, recently viewed items, product comparison tools, shipping countdown timers. Each one solved a real business problem.
YourStoreAddons.com - A Business Built Around One Platform
Registered YourStoreAddons.com - the name said exactly what it offered: add-ons built specifically for Yahoo Store. The domain reflected the specialisation that had developed organically over four years of deep platform work.
First Yahoo Store API Integration
A client needed real-time order data pushed from their Yahoo Store into a custom external system. Nobody had done this for them before. I explored Yahoo's API, worked through the integration, and delivered it successfully. That project opened a new chapter - platform integrations, external systems, and API-level development within the Yahoo Store ecosystem.
Same Expertise. New Platform Name.
When Yahoo Small Business became Turbify, I was already ahead of the change - updating client stores, migrating deprecated URLs, fixing compatibility issues others didn't know existed. The rebrand changed the name. It didn't change the expertise built over nearly two decades.
Why I'm Still All In on Turbify
I get asked this often: why stay with one platform when the web development world keeps moving? My answer is straightforward.
I haven't stood still. Over the years I've expanded into Laravel, CodeIgniter, Shopify, WooCommerce, and MERN stack development. I keep up with modern frameworks because staying current makes me a better developer on every platform.
But Turbify is my core strength - and I protect that. There are thousands of stores still running on this platform. Their owners are often non-technical, loyal to what works, and in real need of a developer who genuinely knows the system. Most developers have moved on. That gap is exactly where I add the most value.
